Associate Manager - Civil

JOB PURPOSE:

Act as the Company’s point of technical reference for his engineering discipline by providing a professional, technical expertise and leadership necessary to manage teams which plan, implement and deliver multiple projects, meeting the requirements of time and quality and ensuring the optimal use of capital and human resources.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Maintain the highest professional standards in his discipline in order to effectively provide the specialist knowledge and advice necessary to support the development and the progressive renewal of DUBAL’s physical assets.
• Analyse internal customer needs, then formulate and evaluate alternative solutions to ensure that those needs will be satisfied in the most appropriate and cost-effective way, with emphasis on solutions which improve safety, environmental and reliability issues.
• Define, procure and allocate departmental and project resources to ensure timely and successful project completion.
• Lead multi-disciplinary projects teams in the planning, implementation and delivery of projects of any value, complexity or risk profile, to meet defined time, cost and quality standards.
• Act as an approving authority for project documentation under the departmental ISO 9001 quality procedures.
• Direct, monitor and evaluate the work of engineering contractors to ensure that health, safety, environmental and quality standards are maintained in order to meet or exceed company policy requirements in these areas.
• Write and maintain QA procedures, standard technical procedures and specifications and ensure their correct application in project to enable installations to be in line with international standards and current best practice.
• Provide accurate technical and cost information to Supply and Finance Managers to ensure that expenditure of company capital resources is planned and applied effectively and efficiently.

AUTHORITY/ DECISION MAKING:

• The job holder generally manages projects within an established budget and sequence of activities. He has full freedom to determine technical solutions and methodologies.  He is unlikely to have decisions changed from above.  Success is normally measured after the fact against defined broad and frequent specific objectives.
• He plans at two levels: overall project and resource planning for the full schedule of projects may be up to several years, whereas allocation of project and non-project tasks and resources within the matrix structure may be done on a timescale of weeks or even days.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in the relevant engineering discipline

Minimum Experience:

• At least 10 years post-graduate experience, including extensive management of projects, within an industrial environment.

Skills:

• The job requires professional engineering, design and project management skills to be exercised in depth to achieve expected results.

• Team leadership and participation, communication, coaching and interpersonal skills, and the ability to solve problems and think creatively
