Associate Manager - Risk and Resilience

EGA operates aluminium smelters in Jebel Ali and Al Taweelah in the United Arab Emirates, an alumina refinery in Al Taweelah, a bauxite mine and associated export facilities in the Republic of Guinea, a speciality foundry in high strength recycled aluminium in Germany, and a recycling plant in the United States.

 

2.    JOB PURPOSE:
Supports the Manager – Risk & Resilience in ERM with the implementation and application of a comprehensive and effective enterprise-wide integrated risk management framework which ensures that all risks (including financial, market, operational, strategic and EH+S) are identified and effectively managed within the defined shareholders risk appetite and governance framework.
Accountability for the ongoing effectiveness of the group enterprise-wide risk management programme encompassing EGA, DUBAL, EMAL, ATA, GAC and all overseas offices.

3.    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
    Supports and advises risk owners and risk champions in identifying critical business risks and developing appropriate risk mitigation strategies
    Supports EGA business units to identify, establish, maintain and continuously improve risk management capabilities in line with department strategy
    Facilitates enterprise-wide risk assessments by supporting the implementation of Risk Assessment workshops and monitors the prioritisation of risks within the organisation
    Facilitates the identification and assessment of risk treatment options, and supports the development and monitoring of risk treatment plans
    Implements and recommends improvements to risk-assessment models or methodologies
    CAPEX and STRATEX Risk assessments - Support the Capital Projects on project risk evaluations on projects valued > $5M and High Risks for projects valued between $500,000 and $5M
    Quarterly review of all the risks in the Corporate & Projects business units and advice BU of any significant changes that impacts the risk rating 
    Input into Quarterly individual Area Owners Meetings to reviewing area risks and main concerns 
    Mentoring and Training of Graduate Trainees and/or new recruits to the department
ERM Systems
    Maintains appropriate internal risk reporting to support the ERM framework  
    Monitors the progress of implementation of risk mitigation plans and prepare reports on the effectiveness of these plans
    Provides support to update and maintain the GRC platform.
    Provides training to the Risk Champions and Deputy Risk Champions of the business units
    Provides technical support to the Manager in drafting, implementing, maintaining and reviewing the department policy and procedures
    Participates in internal/external audits of the department by providing support in demonstrating compliance to the applicable standards
    Supports Financial Risk Analyst in the quantitative risk assessment of the identified risks using appropriate quantitative , semi-quantitative and statistical methods

5.    QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
 
Qualifications:
    Undergraduate degree in Finance/Accounting/Engineering from a recognised university. Post graduate qualifications in management or/and professional qualifications in Projects or Risk Management is essential.  
Experience:
    Minimum consecutive 5 Years in an ERM role or similar function
Skills:
    Sound understanding of ERM principles and philosophy
    Operational Risk Management, corporate finance and financial risk management
    Working knowledge of risk appetite, tolerance, thresholds and limits concepts, risk governance principals, quantitative risk modelling
    Communication skills – written and verbal
    Accuracy in calculations
    Attention to details
    Able to work to tight deadlines
    Strong customer focused and team oriented
    Proficiency in MS Excel & MS Office
