EGA operates aluminium smelters in Jebel Ali and Al Taweelah in the United Arab Emirates, an alumina refinery in Al Taweelah, a bauxite mine and associated export facilities in the Republic of Guinea, a speciality foundry in high strength recycled aluminium in Germany, and a recycling plant in the United States.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

To support the attraction, development and retention of UAE National employees by effectively managing UAE National training programmes in alignment with best practice and providing on[1]going support to UAE Nationals in order to achieve the Emiratization objectives of EGA.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Nationals Development

▪ Support in establishing the Emiratization plan (and annual target) for the business areas.

▪ Creatively synchronize the available channels of Emiratization programs – scholarship, Graduate Trainees etc. to fulfil the Emiratization objective

▪ Support the implementation of the Emiratisation strategies of EGA through the development and retention initiatives of UAE Nationals;

▪ Ensure that the development needs of Nationals (Graduate Trainees or other Nationals who are recruited for administrative roles) are identified and attended to;

▪ Recommend and monitor relevant training programmes in conjunction with area owners and EGA Management & Core skills training teams;

▪ Ensure 100% of Graduate Trainees have development plan from their first day at work;

▪ Liaise with the Learning and Development team and /or business areas to suggest the training programmes that meet the identified needs for Graduate Trainees or identified Nationals to be in administrative roles;

▪ Handle the issues of Graduate Trainees, or any other UAE Nationals, and suggest effective solutions in order to engage and retain Nationals.

Ensure that the progress of Graduate Training programmes are effectively monitored; Ensure effective progress review meetings are carried out in order to monitor the effectiveness of development plans for Nationals at EGA; Act upon the feedback to make mid-course corrections as required ensuring effective implementation of the program and development of the Nationals. Ensure Graduate Trainees cases are solved in timely manner;

▪ Ensure the progress of the identified Nationals through other Emiratization initiatives i.e. Administrator replacement, is actively monitored;

▪ Provide coaching and counselling support to Nationals across EGA;

▪ Implement the GT progression after successful completion of the program after 6 months, subject to performing well in the area;

▪ Ensure that Graduate Trainees are groomed to replace expats – focus on replacement though competent Nationals.

▪ Proactively meet with area leaders to discuss Graduate Trainees program status, concerns and capture their requirements / feedback on the program when necessary and find solutions;

▪ Involve with Recruitment team in order to ensure quality intake into the GT program and as and when requested / required;

▪ Attract UAE Nationals to reach Emiratisation target through attending Career Fairs and exhibitions organized by Recruitment department;

▪ Conduct counselling, discussion with the area and other sections within Human Capital to ensure that alternate approaches and suggestions were thought out before any National exits EGA;

▪ Streamline the process between the two sites to ensure efficiency and effectiveness;

▪ Ensure the engagement of Graduate Trainee and their satisfaction on the programme design and administration, incorporate feedback received (through focus groups / surveys etc.) as necessary to increase the effectiveness of the program.

▪ Continue to improve systems, maximize office efficiency and improve overall Graduate Trainee programme effectiveness;

▪ Analyse data and provide report and presentations to raise concerns - explore recommendations about the Graduate Trainees’ program and other Emiratization initiatives.

▪ Conduct benchmark with other companies and propose recommendations.

▪ Meet customer needs in a timely manner and provide high quality services;

▪ Ensure the tasks handled by the team are running smoothly;

▪ Weekly meeting with the assigned team to discuss tasks, updates, recommendations, Propose budget and monitor the costs of the section including and not limited to Graduate Trainee external courses.

▪ Coordinate for Summer Training for the UAE Nationals effectively.

▪ Provide the Scholarship team the required support, feedback, guidance, and advices

whenever is required.

▪ Support with tasks related to other areas when requested by manager;

Policies, Processes & Procedures

▪ Recommends improvements to Emiratisation policy and implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of Nationalisation activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers;

▪ Develop and update the policies and procedures related to National Development team, and ensure that they are documented, approved by management, and communicated across the organization accordingly.

Communication

▪ Ensures the communication and close working links with the relevant Human Capital business units, providing support where required to ensure the effective training and development of UAE Nationals;

▪ Holds regular meetings with area management to inform, update and gather feedback in order to take appropriate actions to improve the effectiveness of training programmes, procedures and systems

People Management

▪ Supervises the day to day activities and work of subordinates by providing formal and informal feedback to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance with set individual targets;

▪ Involve in one-to-one discussions with regards to the performance appraisals of the assigned team and Scholarship team;

▪ Coach and support the subordinates to be developed in order to perform their roles effectively.

▪ Support the scholarship team whenever required.

▪ Ensure the collaboration with other entities / corporate whenever required;

Budget

▪ Prepares and recommends the Nationalisation section budget by preparing analysis and data related to specific elements as directed

▪ Monitors the financial performance of the Nationalisation section against budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon;

▪ Ensure that the area budget is spent in effective way;

▪ Monitor and ensure that Graduate Trainees are either against budget or replacement after completing 1 year in their programme.

Data Management

▪ Maintain and track Emiratization data which can flow into the annual target setting exercise.

▪ Ensure relevant data in relation to Emiratisation is kept up to date and communicated as appropriate to the relevant stakeholders.

▪ Provide the manager the required reports (Key Highlights and Data Report) on monthly basis

Related Assignments

▪ Performs other related duties or assignments as directed;

 

AUTHORITY/ DECISION MAKING:

▪ Works independently within approved policies and procedures, keeping direct manager updated at all times and discussing concerns and making recommendations as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Business Administration or equivalent with preferably a post graduate degree.

Minimum Experience: 4-6 years relevant experience in increasing supervisory/managerial positions.
