Supply Chain / Strategic Raw Materials (UAE National Talent)
JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this job is to;
- implement an annual plan for the procurement of the required materials for plant operations such as Alloys, Refractory and Relining Materials,
- manage cordial relationships with vendors in order to ensure delivery of optimal quality and cost-effective materials and services in line with EGA’s needs and complying with approved policies and standards, and
- provide regular support in budget preparation/forecast for Financial Planning. Also, provide inputs related to supply for formulating corporate strategies.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Policies, Processes and Procedures
- Implements approved departmental policies, processes, procedures and provides instructions to subordinates and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled and compliant manner
Day- to-day operations
- Implements the day-to-day operations assigned for Alloys, Refractory and Relining Materials department to ensure compliance with the established standards and procedures.
- Monitors inventory of materials and liaises with Warehouse and/or Operations to ensure optimum inventory levels are maintained.
Purchasing Needs
- Reviews EGA’s Alloys, Refractory and Relining Materials procurement needs in order to develop comprehensive purchasing plans and activities to meet EGA’s requirements within the required timeframes.
- Provides end users with sound purchasing advice relating to availability of products and services, cost, quality, timeframes etc. to manage expectations and meet their needs in the most effective manner.
Purchasing Process
- Oversees end-to-end purchasing process and documentation for Alloys, Refractory and Relining Materials to ensure purchase requisitions are processed efficiently at competitive terms to meet EGA’s requirements
Tendering
- Monitors the tender cycle and documentation ensuring compliance with approved standards and policies.
- Negotiates price, terms of payments, shipping terms, etc. in accordance with EGA’s Delegation of Authority (“DOA”) / Standard Conditions of Purchase in order to obtain and evaluate competing bids from suppliers/vendors and source optimal terms and conditions for supplies.
- Shortlists preferred suppliers according to EGA’s requirements in terms of quality, price and specifications, and provides recommendations to Strategic Procurement Committee (“SPC”) in consultation with area manager on the suitable supplier/s, in order to ensure selection of the most appropriate supplier/s in compliance with EGA’s procurement policies and procedures.
Vendor Relationship
- Contributes to building relationships with key vendors and suppliers in order to enable building effective partnerships and to assist in negotiation process
Market Analysis
- Performs analysis and monitoring of market intelligence including price benchmarking, to ensure EGA maintains optimal deals on all materials procured.
- Monitors key spending areas and prioritizes purchasing activities and categories in order to obtain cost-saving opportunities for the organization.
Safety, Quality and Environment
- Complies with all relevant EHS policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING:
- Works independently and leads the Procurement Alloys, Refractory and Relining Materials teams to comply with established procedures and to co-ordinate proper implementation of Inventory optimization techniques.
- Decisions are made in line with the strategy of the organization.
- Makes decisions with market, economic, social, and political environments taken into account.
- Decides how to optimise / address staffing requirements.
- Allocates tasks to teams.
- Makes decisions about suggestions for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, preferably with specialization in Supply Chain/ Material Management, or any related specialization.
- Diploma or Certification in Procurement and Contracts is preferred.
Minimum Experience
- 6 years relevant experience in procurement function in a similar industry.
Skills:
- Good knowledge of the Aluminium Smelting industry.
- Knowledge on market trends on materials price, fluctuations, key supplier, geographic location, etc.
- Good negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
