Senior Associate - Risk and Resilience

EGA operates aluminium smelters in Jebel Ali and Al Taweelah in the United Arab Emirates, an alumina refinery in Al Taweelah, a bauxite mine and associated export facilities in the Republic of Guinea, a speciality foundry in high strength recycled aluminium in Germany, and a recycling plant in the United States.

 

JOB PURPOSE:

Maintain with all areas across the organisation the Global Resilience system and ensure compliance to NCEMA and ISO standards.

Identify and work with all areas across EGA Group to build and maintain Business Continuity Plans.

Responsible to be on call 24/7 to assist with managing a potential crisis within the Group.  Act as the facilitator to manage the crisis in line with the BCM Crisis Management Framework.

Prepare in collaboration with all areas exercises and dirlls. Monitoring and accurately recording the effectiveness of drills for evaluation and continuous learning.

Assist with assessing business continuity risk across all areas of the Group.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Policies, Processes & Procedures

  • Roll out approved departmental, policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas of the Business Continuity Management and Enterprise Risk system in a consistent manner within assigned area of operations.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the Crisis Management Framework and Emergency Response Centre facilities and Enterprise Risk Framework.
  • Responsible for working with the respective business areas to determine drill scenario’s and Business Impact Analysis Statements.
  • Manage the up-loading and maintenance of policies and procedures and coordinate with the areas drill dates and testing times.Responsibility for the Group wide notification system and user training and support.

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Work in collaboration with all areas across the Group including international offices to help prepare business continuity plans.
  • Implements the day-to-day operations assigned for the Business Continuity Management department and Enterprise Risk to ensure they comply with international established policies, processes and procedures within their assigned area of operations.
  • Assist with preparation of materials for reporting to the Risk Management Committee, Audit Risk Committee and EGA Board.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Risk team to ensure risks have corresponding resilience plans in place.

 

Investigation & Reporting

  • Undertake as necessary investigations and reporting of Business Continuity Management incidents (in conjunction with appropriate agencies - where required) and make recommendations as a result of the outcome of such incidents.
  • Ensure that the Emergency Management Centre’s are fully functional and operational at all times.
  • An active and permanent member of the Emergency Management Team.
  • Working collaboratively with operational and administration areas but also closely with  Insurance Teams.

 

Training & Embedment

  • Assist with planning, organising and conducting a wide range of Business Continuity Management training courses to all levels within the organisation to promote Business Continuity Management awareness and reduce the number and severity of Business Continuity Management incidents.
  • Assist with planning risk awareness sessions with areas across the organisation.
  • Assist with elevating the Risk and Resilience culture across all Group entities.

 

Maintenance, Testing & Inspection

  • Control and coordinate all maintenance and testing of Business Continuity Management systems throughout the plant to ensure their operational readiness.
  • Conducts routine evaluations of the workplace, as required advising on all aspects of Business Continuity Management precautions to identify any areas of non-conformance with local regulatory requirements and internationally accepted standards and recommend solutions to ensure compliance.
  • Be familiar with the local regulatory requirements and International Standards, in particular NCEMA and ISO.

Complies with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.

  • Taking a position for Senior Management to review in collaboration with areas on and Resilience assessments.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline (preferable but not mandatory)
  • Accreditation or membership to a recognised Business Continuity, Risk, or Resilience Association
  • NCEMA Qualification
  • Institute of Risk Management qualification.

 

Minimum Experience:

5 years plus years relevant experience in Business Continuity, Enterprise Risk Management, Crisis Management or Business Resilience in a similar manufacturing industry.

 

Skills:

  • Familiar with ISO 22301 – Societal Security – Business Continuity Management Systems standard
  • Excellent in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficiency in SAP applications
  • Presentation Skills.
