JOB PURPOSE

Source and purchase goods, materials, and services as specified by internal customers, at the most cost effective price, ensuring best value for money while protecting the commercial interests of EGA in all transactions

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Day- to-day operations

• Carry-out procurement functions (source, selection, tender, preparation, technical and commercial evaluation of bids, purchase order/contact placement, etc.) and ensures cost effective and timely delivery of products/services to the correct specification, meeting plants quality, technical and environmental requirement

Purchasing Needs

• Supports EGA’s annual raw and process materials procurement needs in order to meet purchasing plans and activities as per EGA’s requirements within the required timeframes
• Reviews where appropriate the raw and process materials procurement needs with the end users and warehouse to align the procurement plan deliveries with any updates

Purchasing Process

• Carry out end-to-end purchasing process and documentation for raw and process materials / general materials to ensure purchase requisitions are processed efficiently at competitive terms to meet EGA’s requirements

Tendering

• Performs the tender cycle and documentation ensuring compliance with approved standards and policies
• Reviews competing offers from suppliers to obtain and source optimal terms and conditions for supplies to provides recommendations to the line manager on the suitable supplier/s
• Raise purchase orders (POs) with agreed terms and conditions to ensure orders are executed timely

Vendor Relationships

• Monitors and evaluate suppliers’ performance to ensure that they are capable of providing EGA with the best supplies

Market Analysis

• Reports on the market pricing and trends for materials to ensure EGA maintains optimal deals on all materials procured

Safety, Quality & Environment

• Complies with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment

Related Assignments

• Performs other related duties or assignments as directed

AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING

• Thinking within clearly defined policies, principles and specific objectives, under readily available direction
• Work is subject to subject to periodic review against targets and the focus is on the delivery of medium-term results

QUALIFICATION & SKILSS

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Science/Commercial Discipline/CIP

Minimum Experience:

• 3-5 years UAE purchasing experience preferably in an aluminium smelter industry.

Skills:

• Specialized in Engineering materials, equipment and spare parts. Preferably with working knowledge of ISO 9001 principles.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, MRP systems, SAP, purchasing computer system, order management, and planning tools.
