Senior Technician - Instrumentation
1. JOB PURPOSE:
Trouble-shoots, repairs, re-commission and maintains efficiently a wide range of machinery and equipment to ensure efficient operation and reduces production down time without compromising EHS Guidelines with a focus on continuous improvement.
2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Attends to all instrument & control equipment breakdowns and planned/ preventive/ predictive maintenance work with minimum direction and supervision within the time constraint given minimizing production downtime.

Identifies and reports any abnormalities. Repairs and /or replaces required parts, re-assembles and tests the equipment, leaving the working area clean.

Technically assesses the requirement of allocated jobs and selects the necessary tools to complete such work.

Effectively diagnoses, troubleshoots, report instrument & control system breakdowns/failures.

Provides guidance to other disciplines in the repair and troubleshooting of failed equipment.

Using the computerized maintenance system (SAP), orders the spare parts from warehouse and maintains records of all maintenance work completed.

Ensures that all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with the safety procedures, maintenance plans and plant operational requirements.

Monitors any repeated breakdowns and recommends/takes up proper modification to resolve the problem.

Provides on the job training/familiarization to new craftsmen/new employees/contractors in order to equip them with the necessary skills to be able to carry out maintenance repair work as planned.

Calibrates Process, Test and Measurement instruments as per ISO/TS/QS requirements and standards.

Continuously works towards improving EHS and Plant & Equipment performance by participating in Business Excellence activities, like, Suggestion Scheme, 5S, TAMAHAL, Hazard Reporting, RCFA, Kaizen, etc.

Leads a team of Technicians/Craftsmen/Contractors for specified tasks.

Performs other related duties as communicated by Supervisor.

Provide guidance and expertise to other divisions when required.
3. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Diploma in relevant field.
-
Completion of PEC Craft Training.
Minimum Experience:
-
5 Years’ relevant experience in a heavy industry after Diploma.
-
2 Years’ experience as an instrument mechanic after PEC Training.
Skills:
-
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
-
Familiarity with all maintenance tools and should have good IT knowledge.

Experience of installation & troubleshooting.
-
Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings/manuals/instructions.
-
Knowledge of Instrumentation, Electronics/Electro pneumatics, Programmable Logic Controllers, Calibration standards and practices relevant to ISO/QS/TS standards.
