Supervisor - Casting(1382) - Pay grade K

1. JOB PURPOSE

To ensure that molten metal from Potlines is received and directed to various casting centres in order to safely produce the highest quality billets, ingots, and sheets into saleable products at optimal cost, in line with customer requirements during the assigned shift.

2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

2.1 EHS

• Ensure all safety and environmental policies, practices, and procedures are strictly adhered to in order to minimize the risk of accidents, injuries, and equipment damage.

• Ensure excellent housekeeping and 5S standards are maintained throughout the plant.

• Support management and the Safety Department in identifying key areas for implementing and improving safety measures.

• Ensure compliance with EGA Life-Saving Rules.

2.2 People Management

• Provide direction and support to the shift team to ensure production requirements are met while efficiently managing manpower and resources.

• Ensure operating personnel are adequately trained to operate safely and effectively, producing the required quantity and quality of products.

• Coordinate with area management and supporting service departments to sustain daily operations.

2.3 Machine

• Manage furnaces, casting, homogenizing (if applicable), finishing equipment, and associated plants effectively to achieve production targets in a timely manner.

• Monitor and follow up on preventive maintenance activities to ensure minimal disruption to operations.

2.4 Production

• Plan and prioritize the production schedule based on ongoing processes and equipment availability at the beginning of each shift in coordination with the team.

2.5 Standards

• Ensure operations adhere to procedures documented under ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, OHSAS 18001:2007, and IATF 16949:2016 certifications.

• Monitor online control and documentation systems including SCADA, MES, Analytics, SSM, OEE, AS400, EPMS, and SAP.

2.6 Material

• Control resources and costs responsibly through efficient use of consumables and continuous waste elimination initiatives.

2.7 Miscellaneous

• Actively participate in the Tamayaz and Suggestion Scheme by supporting subordinates’ ideas and assisting in their implementation.

3. AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING

The major decision-making areas for the job holder include:

• Taking the lead during emergency situations until the Emergency Management Team (EMT) is activated.

• Starting or stopping production after assessing operational conditions.

• Taking necessary actions in the event of heavy metal leaks.

• Stopping processes and implementing corrective actions in case of operational abnormalities.

• Taking corrective steps to minimize scrap generation and improve metal recovery.

• Delegating authority as required.

4. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

4.1 Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 12th Grade High School Certificate.

• Completion of Intermediate Level 3 English course or assessment.

• Completion of Shift Supervisor training module for Foundry, Billet, or Sheet Casting.

• Completion of in-house courses for Grade M, including:

  • EGA First Line Management Course – Level 1

  • Conducting Effective Performance Reviews

  • Supervisor’s Role in Business Excellence

• Completion of Aluminium & Its Alloys (Level 1) course.

• Minimum of two “Meets Expectations” ratings or one “Excellent Performer” rating in the last three years.

4.2 Minimum Experience

• Minimum 6 years of experience in EGA Casting Operations.

• Minimum 1 year of service as a Senior Technician.
