JOB PURPOSE:

Provide support across all commercial workstreams associated with the US Smelter Project. This role will be particularly responsible for conducting detailed analysis to support discussions on power procurement, incentives negotiations, logistics planning, product mix strategy, etc., as well as leading the financial analysis for building the overall project’s investment case. The individual will work with the team to shape commercially viable pathways for the project.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support the team on commercial negotiations related to power supply with the power providers and utility through detailed discussions and analysis on supply
  • Lead detailed assessment and sensitivity analysis on pricing volatility, supply reliability risk, tariff structure optimization, transmission access, congestion risks, etc. to structure a reliable and competitive power agreement for the smelter
  • Support the technical team by performing analysis to assess impact of potential market dynamics and regulatory changes that may impact capex
  • Prepare equity partnership model and mechanism to support negotiations with potential equity partners
  • Build preliminary pricing models and commercial forecasts to inform the investment case and discussions with potential offtake partners.
  • Develop the project’s investment case, and ensure all commercial assumptions are robust, defensible, and benchmarked, and are fully integrated into the Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phases
  • Develop sensitivity analysis and mitigation strategies for evolving market, regulatory, and cost-related dynamics

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, or related field

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

3+ years of experience in strategy, finance or related business analysis roles in a reputable organization, preferable top tier consulting firms. Demonstrated experience in financial modelling for complex projects and exposure to power contracts structuring and negotiations. Experience in the aluminium and US industry is a strong plus but not mandatory.
