Associate Manager - Group Tax
JOB PURPOSE:
The role of the Senior Associate of Group Tax is to actively support the tax function to ensure all tax obligations across the Group are met prior to statutory deadlines.
Whilst the main area of responsibility is centred on acting as a support contact / reference point for internal stakeholders on all tax related matters, the primary role of the Senior Associate will be to assist with all tax accounting, tax compliance requirements and support the Group Tax Manger in ad hoc tax advisory scopes.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assists with the preparation of all tax accounting, provisioning, and deferred tax positions of the Group.
Assists with the preparation of multiple tax returns (withholding tax, VAT, corporate income) across different geographies including the UAE.
Supports the Group Tax Manager as well as rest of the team with any other tasks/ on-going projects as so assigned, such as, implementation of tax legislative changes and the introduction of new global tax reporting requirements (Pillar 2) for example.
Preparation of all supporting documentation and relevant notifications for the annual filing of UAE Economic Substance Regulation ("ESR").
Working with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure that treaty applications, entity tax certificates are renewed/ completed in a timely manner.
With support from external advisors, assist with the preparation of Country-by-Country reporting.
Assist in tax audit processes (internal and external) as needed in close cooperation with the Tax Manager.
Assist in requests from external financial auditors in the preparation of tax calculations/ reconciliation in regards financial statements inclusive of assisting in the preparation of relevant tax disclosures.
Assists with Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (‘CBAM’) reporting.
Keep ahead of tax rules and regulations for all relevant jurisdictions and provide regular updates to management.
AUTHORITY/ DECISION MAKING:
Decision Making:
Direction of work is subject to practices and procedures, output is managed. Review and approves all tax compliance and advice prior to the Tax Manager/ Tax Director signing off.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent)
• Formal tax qualifications (ATT, CTA or equivalent)
• At least three years’ experience working in the tax department of a multi-national or Big 4 firm
• Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations and compliance requirements
• Attention to detail and accuracy in tax preparation and compliance
• Excellent communications skills in a range of situations both written and oral
• Ability to build strong relationships and committed to delivery of exceptional service within the organization
• Enthusiastic and flexible attitude to work with commitment to delivering high quality work
• Strong and motivated team player with ability to integrate quickly. Collaborative and proactive with their key accountabilities
• Ability to identify areas of risk, carry out effective reviews and know when to refer upwards
• Team player with ability to build effective relationships at all levels
• Effective time management - ability to remain calm when under pressure to meet both statutory and internal deadlines
• Project management skills to plan and prioritize work, work independently as well as meet project deadlines
• Analytic skills and detail orientation combined with the ability to solve problems creatively
• ERP experience ideally SAP and advanced Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to present in a clear and concise manner
