Engineer II - Process Efficiency

JOB PURPOSE:

To coordinate and assist Senior Process Efficiency Engineer in the execution of projects, optimization initiatives and ensure that the Casthouse resources and equipment are efficiently and cost-effectively utilized.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

EHS:

Adheres to the necessary safety policies, practices and ensures procedures are considered and follow all efficiency and optimization initiatives.

DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS:

Provides specific feedback on improvement cycles for processes and project execution that enables improved cast house efficiencies and equipment utilization. 

Monitors operating activities and issues such as production throughput, safety, quality.  Liaises with the Senior Process Efficiency Engineer on scheduled basis and reviews progress in identified areas.

Oversees correct implementation of efficiency initiatives in addition to implementing projects so that desired targets are achieved consistently.

Seeks out his department senior engineer’s advice on serious safety events and operational issues that impact customers. 

PROCESS OPTIMIZATION & DEVELOPMENT:

Conducts thorough studies on assigned projects for capacity calculations, throughput improvement and submits sound recommendations and practical plans thus improving the efficiency of Casthouses and product lines through better utilisation of equipment. Manages cast products ensuring they meet the customers’ quality specifications and to fully utilise Casthouse capacity.

Analyses data that enables Casthouse to set clear and practical annual objectives covering production throughput, safety and quality objectives.

Conducts research and studies in coordination with Senior Process Engineer Process Efficiency for feasible new applicable technologies, systems, equipment’s that enhances the process.

AUTHORITY/ DECISION MAKING:

Applying new technology or a change in the process imposes a lot of consideration as this will have an impact on the current manufacturing process and as such situations and work environment effect, the incumbent has to consider quality, safety and productivity to achieve the required results. However, consult Senior Process Engineer Process for the desired correct action when difficulty arises.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

HND from Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field of Engineering or higher

Minimum Experience:

Knowledge of Casthouse process or equivalent manufacturing plants in engineering field
