Senior Technician - Electrical (Inspection serivces)
JOB PURPOSE:
-
To conduct thorough examination, testing, and certification of lifting equipment and air receivers to ensure the safety of personnel and machinery for efficient operation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
-
Assess the requirements for each examination, load testing, and hydrostatic testing to ensure accurate assessment of specific equipment.

Oversee the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods carried out on lifting equipment components/machine elements, ensuring accurate assessment and recording of results to confirm components are in safe condition.

Attend lifting equipment and pressure vessel (air receiver) breakdowns and unplanned examination/testing tasks with minimal supervision, performing repairs within the given timeframe to reduce production downtime.

Order spare parts and maintain record status of all lifting equipment and pressure vessels (air receivers) inspected/tested using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure proper operational documentation.

Oversee all inspection/testing tasks to ensure compliance with safety procedures and plant operational requirements.

Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Supervisor/Mechanical Engineer, Inspection Services.

Lead Technicians, Inspection Services, in conducting inspections, testing, and assessment of lifting equipment and air receivers.

Monitor repeated breakdowns or issues with lifting equipment and pressure vessels (air receivers & alumina tankers) and implement necessary modifications or rectifications to resolve problems.

Provide on-the-job training and enhance the skills of new technicians to ensure they can competently conduct inspection and testing tasks.
4. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Structural (Civil), or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum Experience:
-
Engineering Degree: Minimum 2 years’ experience in an engineering discipline related to lifting equipment/accessories.

Diploma in Engineering: Minimum 6 years’ experience in an engineering discipline related to lifting equipment/accessories.
Skills:
-
Certified in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Level II methods: Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Testing (MT), and Visual Testing (VT) as per ASNT-SNT-TC-1A standard or equivalent.

Familiar with inspection/testing procedures, standards, and acceptance criteria for lifting equipment and air receivers.

Trained in examination/testing of overhead cranes, mobile cranes, forklifts, MEWPs, air receivers, and loose lifting equipment.

Familiar with inspection/testing procedures, standards, acceptance criteria for lifting equipment and air receivers, and Permit-to-Work receiving authority.
