Supervisor - Shift

JOB PURPOSE:

Supervise, on shift, the operation of the plant and people in his designated area to ensure the safe, efficient, environmentally compliant and uninterrupted production of power, water and compressed air (Taweelah: for power, Jebel Ali: for the Smelter) to the Smelter complex’s (Jebel Ali: and third party customers). The jobholder supervises scheduled daily, weekly and monthly plant routines which includes auxiliary changeovers.

Jebel Ali: Supervises the performance tests, chemical and water washing of Gas Turbines to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the plant.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Operate and service the power generation equipment to enable the safe and efficient   supply of electric power to satisfy the requirements of the respective site.

Operate and service the Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG's) to enable the uninterrupted supply of steam to satisfy operational requirements.

Operate and service the compressed air plant to enable the continuous generation of compressed air to satisfy (Taweelah: power plant needs, Jebel Ali: Smelter Complex).

Manage the authorised “Permits to Work” and equipment isolation for the Power Plant to ensure maintenance and service work can be carried out safely including being authorised to issue LV and Mechanical PTW’s.

Ensure that all shift personnel strictly adhere to all safety policies, practices and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.

Ensure that all shift personnel are trained across the operations areas to carry out all duties in a safe and effective manner.

Conduct Monthly Safety Meetings and Tool Box Talks

Provide initial resolution of staffing administration or performance issues within his portion of the team including advising Shift Manager (Jebel Ali)/ Shift Charge Engineer (Taweelah) of developing of emergency issue promptly

Control the collection of accurate and reliable operational data in order to monitor performance against target and accurate invoices to third party customers.

Support Operation Engineer / Shift Charge Engineer / Shift Manager / Plant Engineer in implementation of ISO9001:2008 (Taweelah & Jebel Ali), OHSAS18001:2007 (Jebel Ali), ISO14001:2004 (Jebel Ali), ISO50001:2011 (Jebel Ali) and 5S (Taweelah & Jebel Ali)

Supervise changes to the plant configurations as directed by his Operations Engineer (Jebel Ali)/ Plant Engineer (Taweelah) when conditions suggest a change of operating mode will improve operating efficiency

Hands on identification of problem areas of plant and equipment, diagnose faults and take appropriate first line corrective action.

Supervise scheduled daily, weekly and monthly routines, including auxiliary changeovers. Jebel Ali: also including performance tests, chemical and water washing of Gas Turbines compressors

Sustaining the safety of staff and plant during disturbance conditions.

Follow up various business excellence programs submitted by the team

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

A technical qualification at or higher than HNC level and LV authorisation.

Alternatively, extensive experience in thermal desalination, good performance and concurrent active enrolment in HNC program may be considered for technical qualification.

Minimum Experience:

The position requires specialized training in thermo mechanical systems and the desalination process.  The knowledge and experience required is gained through holding increasingly responsible positions in the desalination operations, leading to the superintendent level.

3 years of experience as Senior Technician and/or acting Supervisor in desalination operation.
