EGA is an integrated aluminium producer, with operations on four continents from bauxite mining to the production of cast primary aluminium and recycling. EGA operates aluminium smelters in Jebel Ali and Al Taweelah in the United Arab Emirates, an alumina refinery in Al Taweelah, a bauxite mine and associated export facilities in the Republic of Guinea, a speciality foundry in high strength recycled aluminium in Germany, and a recycling plant in the United States.
JOB PURPOSE:
To monitor and assist in the effective implementation of the localised EGA's corporate Safety programs across the assigned plant operations.
control/protection strategic plans, policies and procedures across the assigned plant operation in order to ensure adherence with world class Safety control/protection practices in accord with international / local legislation and standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Policies, Processes & Procedures
Implements approved departmental, policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas of the Safety department so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are adhered to while delivering a quality, cost-effective service in a consistent manner within their assigned area of operations
Process Safety Management
▪Implement and oversee Process Safety Management (PSM) protocols for high-risk areas, including molten metal handling, gas systems, and hazardous materials.
▪Conduct process hazard analysis (PHA) and ensure adherence to safety-critical procedures.
▪Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve process safety controls and mitigate risks.
▪Prepare Hazardous Area Classification documentation, Safety and Fire Fighting layouts, escape route, traffic management mapping and other safety drawings as needed.
Day-to-Day Operations
▪Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations (OSHA, ISO 45001, local labour laws, etc.).
▪Monitor adherence to safety policies, procedures, and best practices tailored to an aluminium company
▪Conduct internal audits, inspections, and compliance reviews, recommending corrective actions.
Investigation & Reporting
▪Facilitate the Investigation of workplace accidents, work related injuries and other serious event determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
▪Use data analysis and root cause methodologies (e.g., Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Bowtie Analysis) to improve incident prevention.
▪Ensure timely communication of lessons learned and best practices to prevent recurrence.
Data Analysis & Safety Performance Metrics:
▪Utilize data analytics to track and analyse safety performance indicators (e.g., incident rates, near-miss trends, exposure levels).
▪Develop dashboards and reports to provide insights into safety trends and risk factors.
▪Apply predictive analytics to proactively identify safety risks and prevent incidents.
Interaction and Coaching
▪Support in organizing toolbox talks, safety briefings, and awareness campaigns.
▪Coach frontline workers and supervisors on safety related topics.
▪Encourage workers to follow safety rules and report unsafe conditions.
Testing & Inspection
▪Be familiar with the local regulatory requirements and International Standards
▪Develop and initiate routine evaluations of the workplace, as required advising on all aspects of Safety precautions to identify any areas of non-conformance with local regulatory requirements and internationally accepted standards and recommend solutions to ensure compliance.
Safety, Quality & Environment
▪Complies with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment
▪Provide health and environmental inputs (inputs include health risk assessments such as chemical exposure, noise and lighting, ergonomics/Human factors engineering, environmental impact assessments, etc.) to projects
People Management
Observe and coach workers to comply with safety procedures and protocols
Continuous Improvement & Best Practices:
▪Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements in safety data analytics and process safety.
▪Recommend and implement data-driven safety improvements in collaboration with operations and maintenance teams.
▪Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in safety performance metrics and process safety.
Emergency Preparedness & Response:
▪Assist in conducting safety related drills and emergency evacuations.
▪Support emergency response teams in case of workplace incidents.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Preferably an accreditation or membership to a recognised association
▪Certifications: Basic safety certifications (e.g., ADOSH Practitioner, NEBOSH IGC,IOSH Lead Safety) are preferred.
Minimum Experience:
▪Minimum of total 2-3 years relevant working experience in a similar heavy manufacturing industry in HSE, Technical, Operations, Process Design, or Engineering functions.
Skills:
▪Thorough knowledge and understanding of HSE Management systems, and international HSE standards.
▪Good written and spoken English.
▪Excellent interpersonal and customer focused skills.
▪Good time management and priority setting skills
▪Hazard identification, risk analysis and assessment methodologies (e.g. Hazard Identification (HAZID), Inherent SHE Review, PHAs)
▪Risk scenario development techniques, including various methods of risk analysis.
▪Root Cause Analysis Techniques (ICAM, 5 WHYs, Why Tree. etc)
▪Data analysis and/ or excel capability
▪Engineering curiosity and initiative to capture opportunities and deliver value.
