Technician - Mechanical (Fabrication)
JOB PURPOSE:
-
To perform a wide range of duties related to the mechanical installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery, equipment, and fixtures to ensure efficient operation with minimum downtime, in compliance with EHS guidelines and with a focus on continuous improvement.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Tackle all mechanical equipment breakdowns and planned/preventive/predictive maintenance work with minimal supervision and within given timeframes to minimize production downtime.

Technically assess the requirements of allocated jobs and select the necessary tools and equipment to complete the work.

Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with safety procedures and plant operational requirements.

Use the computerized maintenance system (SAP) to order spare parts from the warehouse and maintain records of all completed maintenance work.

Monitor repeated breakdowns and recommend or perform modifications to resolve recurring issues.

Identify and report abnormalities. Initiate repairs, replacements, testing, and assembly of worn-out or failed components/parts. Report to the supervisor and take necessary action to overhaul or replace parts, ensuring the working area is left clean.

Perform welding and fabrication tasks as required.

Mentor newly joined mechanics to develop their knowledge of plant and equipment necessary for carrying out maintenance work.

Continuously work toward improving EHS and plant/equipment performance by participating in all BE activities such as Suggestion Scheme, 5S, Hazard Reporting, TAMAHAL/PEER, etc.

Assist other departments in equipment repair and troubleshooting.

Input data into maintenance management systems for work and manpower records.

Fulfill day/shift duties with a team of Technicians/Craftsmen/Contractors as assigned by the Supervisor.

Perform all PMs, running inspections, and daily checklists as per maintenance planning requirements.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor/technician.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Diploma in a relevant field

Completion of PEC Craft Training
Minimum Experience:
-
3 years of relevant experience in a heavy industry after completing a Diploma

No experience required after completion of PEC Training
Skills:
-
Good working knowledge of written and spoken English
-
Familiarity with all maintenance tools and good computer skills

Exposure to installation and troubleshooting
-
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, manuals, and instructions
