Technician - Mechanical (Fabrication)
1. JOB PURPOSE:
To perform a wide range of duties relating to the mechanical installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery, equipment, and fixtures to ensure their efficient operation with minimum downtime. Work must comply with EHS guidelines, with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Tackle all mechanical equipment breakdowns and perform planned, preventive, and predictive maintenance with minimal supervision, ensuring production downtime is minimized.

Technically assess job requirements and select the appropriate tools and equipment needed for completion.

Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with safety procedures and plant operational requirements.

Use the computerized maintenance system (SAP) to order spare parts from the warehouse and maintain accurate records of all completed maintenance work.

Monitor recurring breakdowns and recommend or implement proper modifications to resolve issues.

Identify and report abnormalities; initiate repairs, replacements, testing, and assembly of worn-out or failed components/parts; report to the supervisor and leave the working area clean.

Perform various welding and fabrication tasks as required.

Mentor newly joined mechanics to equip them with the plant and equipment knowledge needed for maintenance work.

Continuously work toward improving EHS and equipment performance by participating in BE activities such as Suggestion Scheme, 5S, Hazard Reporting, TAMAHAL/PEER, etc.

Assist other departments with equipment repair and troubleshooting.

Input data into maintenance management systems for work and manpower records.

Fulfill day/shift duties with a team of Technicians, Craftsmen, or Contractors as assigned by the Supervisor.

Perform all preventive maintenance, running inspections, and daily checklists as per maintenance planning requirements.

Perform other related duties as communicated by the Supervisor or Technician.
3. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications:

Diploma in a relevant field

Completion of PEC Craft Training
Minimum Experience:
-
3 years of relevant experience in a heavy industry after Diploma
-
No experience required after completing PEC Training
Skills:
-
Good working knowledge of written and spoken English
-
Familiarity with all maintenance tools and good computer skills

Exposure to installation and troubleshooting

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, manuals, and instructions
