EGA is an integrated aluminium producer, with operations on four continents from bauxite mining to the production of cast primary aluminium and recycling. EGA operates aluminium smelters in Jebel Ali and Al Taweelah in the United Arab Emirates, an alumina refinery in Al Taweelah, a bauxite mine and associated export facilities in the Republic of Guinea, a speciality foundry in high strength recycled aluminium in Germany, and a recycling plant in the United States.
ESG Governance Auditor with primary responsibility for Safety Governance, Audit & Assurance in high-risk industrial operations like EGA.
Key Responsibilities (High Level):
- Conduct independent compliance and assurance audits on:
- Coverage of all LTIs (previous year)
- Coverage of selected HPNM samples
- Coverage of selected SOP / TRA audits
- Fatality action plan verification
- Coverage of selected closed Near Miss cases
- PTW quality verification (sample-based)
- Systematic audit of the overall PTW system
- System audit of 1st Party SOP/TRA audits
- Assess compliance against:
- ISO 45001, ISO 14001 requirements
- Local legal requirements (ADOSH, Dubai Municipality, UAE regulations)
- UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice
- UAE OHSMS National Standard (AE/SCNS/NCEMA 6000:2016)
- EGA’s Life Saving Rules and critical risk controls
- EGA Policy & Procedures
- ESG Governance Procedures (EGA.OEX.ESG.GEN.02.01, EGA.OEX.ESG.GEN.02.02)
- Compliance Verification checklist
- Strong audit governance and stakeholder engagement capability, including clear audit report writing, leading opening and closing meetings, and close coordination with senior leaders across EGA Operations (Up-Mid-Down streams), Maintenance, ESG, HC, Supply Chain, CAPEX, and other functions to drive ownership and implementation of audit actions.
- Data and system competency, including familiarity with SAP, Power BI, safety data analysis, and a strong working knowledge of MS Office tools to support evidence-based assurance and reporting.
- Conduct Governance and compliance audits of Hazardous Materials (HazMat) management systems, including storage, handling, transportation, segregation, labelling, inventory management, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance.
- Verify compliance with the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice, including fire prevention systems, hazardous storage requirements, emergency response arrangements, fire protection systems, and inspection/maintenance requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent)
- Certified Lead Auditor – ISO 45001 (ISO 14001 preferred)
- Licensed Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Expert/Consultant recognized by UAE Civil Defense (Dubai or Abu Dhabi) or equivalent UAE regulatory authority (Preferred)
- NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management (Preferred)
- Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) (Preferred)
- Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS®) from NFPA (Preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of:
- ADOSH requirements
- Dubai Municipality / UAE HSE legal framework
- UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice
Experience Requirements:
- 5–7 years minimum experience in HSE auditing or safety governance
- Proven audit experience in heavy/high-risk industries, such as:
- Aluminium or steel smelters
- Energy, Oil & Gas
- Petrochemical or large process industries
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Governance-level audits (not only site inspections)
- High-risk operations and process safety environments
- Post-incident and serious event audit reviews
- Compliance verification audits of SOPs / SMPs / TRAs
- Compliance verification audits of Hazardous materials (Hazmat) management systems
- Experience auditing compliance with the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code and industrial fire protection requirements.
- Experience conducting governance audits related to Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and critical risk controls.
